Reman Day 2021

As a company that prides itself on value, we are ecstatic to celebrate the 4th Annual Reman Day. Reman Day is meant to provide awareness and acknowledgment toward the ecological achievements the remanufacturing standard has provided the world. The standard is meant to define and provide a benchmark for the process of remanufacturing. As a community, we can understand what characterizes remanufacturing and how it provides sustainable outcomes, compared to the standard manufacturing process. At OFC we strive to incorporate sustainability in all our processes, and we are honored to be a part of this movement. Office Furniture Center takes used office furniture in Chicago and refurbishes it to create like-new products.   Remanufacturing is a comprehensive and rigorous industrial process by which a previously sold, leased, used, worth, or non-functional product or part is returned to “like-new” or “better-than-new “condition, from both a quality and performance perspective, through a controlled, reproducible, and sustainable process. Refurbished office furniture in Chicago is a great alternative to buying new.   Our motto “Expect Value” not only applies to our amazing service and price points but also how ecologically driven we are. Every year we divert 300 tons of landfill to revamp for office furniture solutions. To put it in perspective, that same 300 tons of landfill can power 12 homes a year when converted into energy. Remanufacturing contributes to the economy, eliminates waste, and fosters innovation.   A prime example of us embodying the principles of remanufacturing is in our Herman Miller Ethospace Refurbishing Process.
  1. First, move the tiles from the workstation
  2. Secondly, we cut out a chosen fabric in the shape of the tiles to replace for later. Next, we remove the fabric from the removed tile frame
  3. Then, we apply adhesive to attach the new fabric
  4. Lastly, the fabric is trimmed and passed through 2 rounds of quality control
Just like that, a client can have a sustainable and customized workstation.  Overall, we believe all furniture can be refurbished, reconditioned, and repurposed.
